BASQUEVOLT participates in the E-MAR project for the decarbonisation of maritime transport

The collaborative R&D project in which BASQUEVOLT participates, entitled “Decarbonisation of Maritime Transport through Research into Electrification Technologies and Sustainable Propulsion (E‑MAR)”, has been co‑funded by the Basque Government and the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund 2021–2027 (ERDF).

The general objective of E‑MAR is to promote the decarbonisation of maritime transport through the research of new technologies in energy storage, electrification, on‑board photovoltaic generation, materials, and hydrodynamics adapted to marine environments, laying the foundations for future sustainable vessels, both recreational and a wide range of commercial ships.

In this context, BASQUEVOLT’s role in the E‑MAR project consortium focuses on researching an energy storage solution based on solid‑state cell technology for application in marine vessels.

E‑MAR is a collaborative industrial research project of strategic, multi‑year nature (2025–2027), involving the following companies and technology centres of the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network: LASAI MARINE, MURUETA ASTILLEROS S.A.U, BASQUEVOLT S.A., EG BATTERY SOLUTIONS (EDERBATT), BATTBELT, OBEKI INNOVE, TECNALIA, CIC ENERGIGUNE, IKERLAN and CEIT.
